Incontri is the Institute for New Music at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. Incontri organizes versatile and exciting encounters between composers, improvisers, performers and audiences in the field of contemporary music. Incontri accompanies and promotes new music in its encounters with the present, in compositions, experiments and new concepts. Incontri creates sparks for a music of the future from the encounter between traditions and new exciting questions.

Incontri:

• offers a wide and well-founded composition education that covers a range of possibilities in the areas of instrumental and electronic composition.
• disseminates contemporary music in concerts, master classes, workshops and festivals
• organizes the HMTMH's new music and live-electronic ensembles
• works intensively with all faculties of the university
• cooperates with various universities in Germany and abroad such as Conservatoire de Paris, GRAME Lyon, MH Lübeck, HfK Bremen, HfMT Hamburg, University of Music Freiburg, HMT Rostock, ZKM Karlsruhe, ICST Zürich and many others
• researches in the field of contemporary music
• gives concerts at numerous locations in and outside Hanover, such as the Sprengel Museum, at the Kestnergesellschaft, at the Kunstverein Hanover and the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen
• works interdisciplinarily
• is a partner of Musik 21 Niedersachsen and part of the nationwide New Music Network.
